Halloween 2022

History Of Halloween :

Halloween’s origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain. The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago, mostly in the area that is now Ireland, the UK and Northern France, celebrated their New Year on November 1.

This day marked the end of Summer and the harvest and the beginning of the dark, cold Winter, a time of year that was often associated with human death. Celts believed that on the night before the New Year, the boundary between the worlds of the living and the dead became blurred. On the night of October 31, they celebrated Samhain, when it was believed that the ghosts of the dead returned to earth.

Over the centuries, Halloween transitioned to a day of parties, costumes, jack-o-lanterns and trick-or-treating for kids and adults.

Things to do at Halloween:

There are many things you can do at Halloween. For example you can go trick-or-treating with other children. You can also dress up and go to a Halloween party.

Some people also like carving out pumpkins and place them on their doorsteps for decoration and there can also be big bonfires which will be lit at night-time.

Costume Ideas:

Halloween costumes were traditionally modelled after figures like vampires, ghosts, skeletons, scary looking witches or devils. Over time, the costume selection extended to include popular characters from fiction like ninjas and princesses or celebrities like Britney Spears.

According to a 2018 report from the National Retail Federation, 30 million Americans spent around $480 million on Halloween costumes for their pets. The most popular costumes for pets are the pumpkin, followed by a hot dog, and the bumblebee. How mad is that?!
