Back to College – Advices for new Third Level Students

When the new College year starts, there are so many things to do in advance.

First, you have to think about the subject you will study. Are there any internships you did, or you could do to prepare yourself for this profession? Are you ready to commit yet? Research regarding the matter are always very helpful too – get a good overview before you start the semester – and gathering information about your college, the location, semester plans/ exam phase, service points etc. will help you to begin the new chapter with a good and relaxed feeling.

The next task could be finding accommodation. Think about your budget, the area and location, distance to home or rather distance to the college, how is the infrastructure, and how are the connections in this region? Try to find something that fits best for you and where you feel comfortable.

Since we are living in the 21st century, it’s hard to imagine studying without a laptop or tablet. That’s why getting or buying one of these is essential for all third level Students.

It is also important to get in touch with other students. Does the college provide any orientation phase, where you could meet some new people in advance? Finding some study groups or fellow students is significant in every student’s life. You can motivate each other and experience the time on college together.

You also have to look after yourself and be independent. Being well organized is going to be a part of your life and a matter of course from now on. Use a planner or a calendar to keep an eye on your meetings and other schedules. Be aware of deadlines for the enrolment or registration for courses. Self-reflection by working with a journal helps you to improve yourself and make notes of various experiences.                                                                   Always be well-equipped with office materials, such as scissors, rulers, pens or a calculator, so that you can always follow the lecturer. It is advantageous to build a plan to succeed in your degree. We are very pleased to carry these things for you! If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us by phone (01) 289 8838 Deansgrange / (01) 460 4100 Ballymount or mail sales@officesupplies.ie.

When College starts, you will need to be more independent, especially if you move away from your family home. It’s recommended that cooking, doing the laundry and household are going very well alongside studies. Trying this at home before leaving home will make it easier for you afterwards at college

Dipping into this new period of life is going to be a big step and an exciting journey.!

Therefore, the Office Supplies Ireland Team wish you a good start to the New College Year!
