Coming Back to the office

Tips for a stress-free return

Finally, the challenges from Covid seem to be near the end. It means that you are now very likely to welcome back your employees, or to come back to the office. Even if it is something positive because we are getting back to normality, this news can raise some concerns. That’s why we are writing this blog. We will give you a few tips for a nice return to your office.

If you are an employer, here are some of our best tips:

You should be realistic and understand that transition will be tough. Don’t put too much pressure on your employees for their first days. They were used to more flexible hours and probably a cosier way of life working from home.

It is very important to listen to employees and to act on any concerns.

Make sure to show compassion. Some of your employees might be grieving from the loss of a loved one. Some may have suffered from low mood because of loneliness. Make sure to not be too hard on them.

Remember to take care of yourself. Being an employer is a lot of responsibility and it is obviously stressful in these times. So, treat yourself well in order to be able to treat your employees well!

Be flexible with schedules. Many workers have stated that they feel more productive from home as they are not distracted by their colleagues. Some of them also just really enjoy being able to wake up later as they do not need to take the car or the bus when working remotely. Then, organize new schedules for your team and communicate about everyone’s requirements. In addition, it will make it easier to respect social distancing if there are less workers at the office in the same time!

Don’t forget to provide screens, hands sanitizer, masks and possibly signage. If you feel bored by Plexiglas screens, you can consider using green walls or plants in general to separate spaces.

As an employee, you should consider these tips:

Focus on the benefits it will bring you to come back to the office! Do your best to always think positive. You will get to have social interactions with colleagues you probably missed even if you did not realize it! By the way, it is always nice to have discussions around a cup of coffee. It is great to hear jokes and to laugh with co-workers!

Do not hesitate to communicate to your employer if you are concerned. If you think that things are going too fast for you, talk to someone about it. If you feel too much pressure, explain it to your employer.

Set regular breaks. To stay fresh and energized, don’t forget to set breaks and make sure to get out for air and exercise from time to time.

You should avoid coming to the office if you do not feel well. Even if it is not Covid symptoms, you can never be too careful! So make sure to warn your employer if you do not feel well, and follow all HSE health advice.

Finally, you should follow social distancing, hand hygiene and mask wearing as appropriate and stay safe!

Have a nice return to Office working and get in touch if you need any office supplies for your office or home office workers.
